EFI change over

Well, I pulled down the donor truck engine Tuesday. Found a few interesting things. First, the left valve cover gasket had a roughly half inch long piece missing, second, the heads have been rebuilt, recently enough they were still pretty clean, third, number 7 exhaust valve had a new rocker push rod and lifter, fourth, the left head gasket was on backwards, and fifth, the number 5 cylinder has a nice ridge.
The front two pistons were quite clean, like it was overfueling a bit, the rear two to a lesser amount. The center four slightly so. By overfueling, I mean they appeared to be clean like washed on top. The engine had smoked a bit and oil fouled #1 plug leading both the PO and I to figure guide problems. The backs of the intake valves look almost new.
The plan of attack is now:
Bore .030
RV/Towing cam
Roller chain set
Use the F3TZ heads
Maybe shorty headers since I don't need a cat on this trck
Chip for ECM aimed at torque and keeping the converter clutch locked more than normal
Any one with some experiance with shorty headers on one of these?
