vibration when driving

i own a 2001 expedtion xlt. its 4wd. this is my situation, when i drive it, it will suddenly vibrate when im cruising. the service engine light is on. i have to let go of the gas and step on it so it would down shift. the idle on the car is around 600rpm when im on a stop. is this fine? i had the transmission fluid flush and an oil change last week. what do you think it is?
