I was gonna order my new rims today but figured i better check here first before i shell out big$$$ and have the rims not fit. My truck is a 1996 f-150 4x4 with a 6 inch suspension lift and i am wondering if a 17x9 wheel with a 4.75 inch backspacing will work.
My truck has a 6" lift and 35" tires but I'm running a 15x10" wheel. I don't know what my backspacing is.
To do it right you need to break out the tape measure and straight edge, measure your current backspacing, and figure in what you should have for a backspace on the new wheels.
With the stock suspension, about the most you can go is 4.5". At that point the tire starts to rub the radius arms, with a lifted suspension unless someone else has used the same lift with the same wheel and tire combo there is no way to say with any certainty if it will work without measuring.
thank you guys at least with that info i am a little more prepared for the outcome and the rims that i am buying are available in 4.5" so i think it will be wise for me to purchase those instead. THANKS!!!
