Used Limited Slip
I currently have an open differential and plan on regearing in the near future. Instead of spending over $250 for a limited slip, would a used one work. Here's one i found on ebay
Is there anything I should check before buying? Will this just slip into my current differential housing?
Would buying one from the junkyard be ok? I've never had to mess with a limited slip and don't know what goes bad or what to look for.

It should think about the available option on your truck and every truck actually is limited slip it should work just got to make sure you get the limited slip components to successfully do the swap and your done!

I don't think anyone can answer this question too accurately, it's going to be a gamble. It might last a long time, it might only go 500 more miles.
Take into account the gamble of having to pay to have it changed again should it go out (if you aren't doing it yourself).
I wouldn't do it personally. I'd go new.
Maybe someone can tell you how to eyeball it's condition, it wouldn't be me though. Good luck.
