Has any body on here replaced their front rotors with cross drilled rotors? If you have can you give me the link to where you bought them and how much. I have replaced mine several time and they continue to warp within 4 months of replacement. I have bought them at murry's auto parts. I want to up grade to a better rotor and remove the gas build up under extreme usage.
cross drilled rotors may tend to crack between the holes in these applications. Performance Friction 2 piece rotors are a true fix to both the warpage problem and in increasing stopping performance considerably. Give me a call if you need additional info, but whatever you do I would stay away from cross drilled on these heavy trucks.
And no matter what brand or type rotors you install, replace the pads and break them in correctly. Make several high speed (quick) slowdowns to almost stop. Then drive long enough to cool the new pad/rotors. Should now last much longer and stop the warpage. Oh yeah, be sure to use correct (Ford) torque on the rims/wheels. Many installers use an air gun that is mset much too high!!
I also agree with staying away from the cross drilled.
I installed PowerSlot rotors with HAWK pads front and rear on my SD. So much better than OEM stock! It is hard to believe this truck can stop so quickly now.
wow i think i'm gonna need new rotors too cause my truck is startin to give a lil vibration that feels like warped rotors whenever i stop, but i'll wait till the pads wear out than worry about it, they're like brand new pads too eek!
