I've Had my 83 F350 CC 4/4 for 17 yrs, and just bought a 2004 F350 CC 4/4 last week. But in all this time I've had problems getting part numbers for items to restore or order on line (as of late ). Many of my needs for the more aged rig are supperceaded part numbers. The dealer parts dept.s counter folk tend to get the dear in the headlight look when ask about 83 vintage items and don't tend to want to giveup the #rs (to keep me from purchasing elswhere,I've been told). I understand the great service a counter tech is providing this sometimes tuff mission. But I've found sites with factory parts schematics for lots of other types of vehicles and been able to use them to narrow down searches on much older units. Do we as Ford Truck owners have a online venue to search for origanal parts #rs with real ford (schematic type )picture breakdowns.
My new 04 somehow is missing the blockers in the rear opening of the fenders. The tires shoot road debrie all the way to the seals , through a 1 1/2 " by about 1/4 inch wide opening between inner fender and outer. This soft blocker is missing on both sides kind of the way inner fender shock tower blockers are missing on most Gassers(and one PSD I looked at ). No sign of body work at alll . Just not there. So my quest take me to this place of need looking for what some would swear off as, deamed not needed. But In the name of presservation I need em. There are many other parts needed that could be fit into a reasonable investment catagories, if a person had the power to look them up in ones owntime. The sad fact is, that alot of parts are out there, and do to not being able to look them up, (given time, not available to counter techs or people on the phone ) are not utilzed. From time to time I've been allowed to get a look at the PC at the dealers parts counter. Thier prog. is real nice . Wish You all, Well.
No Ford assembly schematics, on line? Factory pics with part numbers? yikes. Ive used some drill down list at parts sites, and the blockers currently needed are shown in diaghram with a single digit identifier, but no link in drilldown or sub listing.
I once had a copy of Chevy's system and the dealers get some good toys. I haven't found any sites with brake downs, you could be SOL and stuck with the dealer. If your really set on exploded diagrams, I'd suggest getting a helms manual. They aren't cheap, but they have a lot of pictures.
Thanks, I've got the Helms available manuals for my 83 and it has useful pics and such again most part numbers superceeded and not usuable for online ordering. I'm set to use Helms online manuals for a couple days for the 04. I'll post here to let it be known if late model part numbers in manual corresponde to current available components. Thanks again.
