Ok so after a year of dragging my feet I finaly decided to get a new windshield installed in my 65. I bought the new gasket(a year ago) from Dennis Carpenter and the installer called me to tell me that the molding did not fit deep enough into the grove and it stuck out a ways and looked bad. He was able to save the old rubber and said it was in great shape.
He is holding the truck overnight and I will see the results in the morning.
I allready through out the return form so does anyone want to buy a windshield rubber for a 65 with no chrome?
I changed the windshield on my ´66 a year ago and bought the rubber (with chrome molding) from Dennis Carpenter and it worked great. Have you talked to them about your problem?
Jon, If the installer tried to put the trim on after the windshield is in place, he will have trouble getting the trim to seat up properly. The trim has to go into the rubber before the windshield is installed in the opening. There is a tech article that came up just recently that spells it out pretty well. Steve
I sent the instructions that came with the rubber from DC and they claim that they followed them.
Any ways I just drove the truck back and it looks great..
Jon, Glad it all worked out and I'm sure that your truck runs better with the new glass. My trucks all seem to run better when I adjust the brakes, give them a bath, put in a new piece of glass etc. Or could it be that I just feel good about the improvements. Most of you know what I'm rambling about. Steve
I replaced my windshield weather stripping to from a sponser of this site Blue Oval, I had an experinced intaller put it in and one corner of the stainless trim sticks out maybe a 1/8" won't go down. The rest was OK not sure where the problem was. Not to noticable unless your looking for it.
