Hi everyone. I have a 1988 Ford Bronco Full Size and I want to get better performance on it. I took it in and got a three inch full flow cat back Flowmaster exhaust system and a computer chip installed to work with the Flowmaster. I have a 351 Windsor engine. I was told that I should get some Power Pulleys and new headers. Anyone know of anything I should get? I want better performance off the line... I'm not racing but when that light turns green, I want to beat the little Ford Focus next to me. So, I'm not looking for speed but performance. Also, anyone know where I can buy ground effects for my Bronco? I don't mind ordering over the internet though it can get costly. I've been to [link:www.groundeffects.com|GroundEffects.com] and they don't have anything for my Bronco. So if anyone knows of a place I can look, that would be great. Also, anyone that knows of a place where I can see pictures of Broncos with ground effects, please let me know. I would love to see what other people have done with their Broncos. Thanks a lot to anyone that can help.
Ground effects? Are you serious? On a BRONCO?
Dude, if that's your thing you have entirely the wrong vehicle. Sell the Bronco & go get some low rider car. Bronco's are 4X4 TRUCKS. They sit high and have poor aerodynamics.
"To each his own," right? If you want the ground effects, I say go for it. It'll be original, anyway. Personally, I think it's a lot cooler when someone pulls up in a big lifted 4x4(like mine will be soon enough)with tires that the driver of the "high performance sport compact" can't see the top of and smokes a little Honda or Focus, whichever the case may be, with his big block 429 or 460(one of which my truck will have...again, soon enough).
But don't let my opinion influence you--you do what you want with your truck.
If you want to "slam" your Bronco I think it will require a little bit of ingenuity. I have no experience in this but I would think that a lowering kit from a f-150 would help. I am sure that you would have to do some modifications to this, but I am sure this has been done. I think your best bet would be to talk to a local shop on this and find another website that caters to lowered Ford trucks. I hope this helps.
Jacobs Off-Road Ultra Kit.
The MSD is a good kit but it comes on at higher RPM. A 4X4 needs low end torque. If you go with something like MSD, make sure you go with a quality dist cap with brass contacts and a high end set of sparkplug wires. This is about the least expensive add-ons without going into the engine.
