Here's some pics of a 203:

The 205 doesn't have that 10" long alluminum tail housing like the 203 has, or the 4" long range box in front of the case it's self.
4 LOW
2 LOW
N
2HI
4HI
The shift lever reads:
4LO-LOCKED
4LO
N
4HI
4HI-LOCKED
I'd like to hear from some of you guys that are running the NP203 w/ the part time kit. What fluid, how often do you change it, any problems to look for, do you ever use the 2LOW and if so what for??? Thanks this board is very helpful!!
PS...theres 2 pics of Ol' Blue in my gallery that I took yesterday as I dropped her off at the muffler shop
Your right that is your shift pattern now.
Since you don't know what kind or how old the fluid is, I'd suggest draining it. Unbolting the flat circular piece of alluminum(not taking the top bolt off, just loosening it, and drain the fluid like that. You would then need to get some kind of a pump to get the remaining quart or so that doesn't drain out, and then wipe the bottom to see how dirty it is in there, and if there are any metal shavings.
You can then bolt it back together, and put NON DETERGENT SAE 30W motor oil into the fill plug, using what ever you find in the best method(flexy funnel). It's been a while since I filled it up, but I want to say 6 quarts.
I've used 2 Low every now and then. Just to see how easy I can walk through mud(showing off) in 2wd(just people don't know I have a 2 low).
I've hooked up to a chevy with slicks while he was in 4Lo, and I told him I'll only pull in 2wd, then I popped it into 2 lo and pulled him.
I've never used it other than just playing around.
But you could put it in 2 lo to pull a heavy load a short distance.
By the way, the truck looks really good(other than the rust hole, but from the discription I thought it would of been alittle worst).
What you getting done to her at the muffler shop?
I don't care for flowmasters on these trucks to much....(that would be the expensive end).
IF you want it loud, go with glass packs, they're cheap, and depending on how loud or quiet you want it, you could get longer or shorter ones. They are pretty good flowing mufflers believe it or not. lol
IF you want it quiet, most muffler shops have the turbo style mufflers. They're pretty cheap, but not the best flowing, and way to quiet for me.
Pipes-wise, I'm running a single 2 1/2 to a flowmaster muffler (found one used, with install it was $50). to a 3 inch short pipe after. I liked the noise it had with no muffler, but I didn't feel like getting a noise pollution ticket
. Sounds pretty good though.

You have one tiny aluminum tail housing which means a 205, and the 203 has two pieces of aluminum bolted to each other totaling 6"s for a tail housing.

IF you don't know, you can check the axle tag on the rear diff cover and it should have some #s like this:
3L50 for a 3.50 gear ratio w/ limited slip
or
3.08 for 3.08 gears and no limited slip
Also, what tune up's were done to the engine?
Sounds like you've got a running start on your truck. Good Job!
Make sure you get picks of those 35s. You might want to level out the front or lift it or cut the fenders so you won't have any rubbing.
Also what wheels will you be putting those new tires on?
Oh yea for the tune up I just put a new distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires, pcv valve, fuel filter, replaced alternator belt, and changed the oil. I guess thats a tune up???

You more than likely have 3.50 gears front and rear.
You can drop the tank and put new straps. You can get them off of www.broncograveyard.com
Just an idea, you could try running some sea foam through your engine to decarbonize it, and clean a few jets on the carb, ect...
Are you thinking of lifting it a little for those 35s?
IF so while you would be changing straps for the fuel tank, you could do the rear shackle flip real easy while the tanks out the way.
Sea Foam...wow I have never heard of such a thing...I'll google it after I post this post.
Rear Shackle flip.....explain more please.................
The truck will be sluggish on take offs, but it will still turn them.
Rear shacke flip is taking the shackle at the rear of the leaf spring and flipping it and putting new grade 8 bolts and you've got 3"s of lift.
Sea Foam is like a fuel/carb cleaner.
You pour 1/3-1/2 a can in the into the carb while truck is running with someone inside giving some gas making sure the truck doesn't die out. Then turn off the truck and let it sit for a hour or so. Start it up, and watch it smoke out the carbon.
I've done this to both my trucks, and a few of my buddy's. They all idled smoother and lower, got a mpg or two(depending on how bad engine was), and then pour the rest into the fuel tank and it cleans the jets, ect in the carb.
Judging by the space in the wheel well, it has a 3-4" lift.
