I have a two week old 2007 F150 Xl, standard Cab, and when I cross R.R. tracks, or hit a hefty pothole, my doors rattle. This wasn't a problem on my older trucks. It sounds like the door isn't shut, but it is! Anyone else have this, and does anyone know of a fix. It will go to the shop this Wed. 3/21/07, and I would like to know if this is something unusual, or something they are aware of, or, should be aware of.
i had that problem for a while with my 05, but it turned out it was my metal clipboard in my bag in the backseat. It drove me nuts for the longest time, i was really hoping it wasn't my door broken. I know this doesn't help you but maybe there is something on the floor or something that is rattling.
have you checked all of your interior panels on that side? i had an issue with my 06, and it turned out that one of the panels wanst correctly "clipped" into the body, and that was causing the tall panel beside the rear driver side seat to not sit correctly... well, it was a chain reaction, causing its "mounting tab" to sit outside of the hole, and it rattled over bumps like you mention. after i popped them all into place correctly, no more noise.... just a quick thought for you.
I just had my 06 in the shop Saturday for the same thing- sounded like there was something with bulk loose inside the door.
The dealer, of course, could not find anything. So they retightened everything in the door and the sound has gone away and been replaced by the plastic squeak of the door panel.
You might get rid of one noise and have it replaced by a new one. I'll take the plastic squeak because I know I can get rid of those- the dealer will call them normal door panel noises but the "thunk" sounded more serious.
I was experiencing this on my 06 SCAB until I realized that the back doors were not latching all the way on the top, causing the front doors to be slightly loose as well. If you open you front door, trying shaking your back doors and see if they move. If so, they back doors need to be shut more firmly.
I took the truck back to the dealer. No one in service could find the problem, till I drove it for the service tech, and got it to make noise. Then, I had him drive it till he could reproduce it. Long story short, they fixed it by adjusting the latches. Works very well now.

Good deal!...
Thanks for reporting back your find/fix!
yea, whenever my half doors are not closed all the way, in another words not slammed all the way, my doors rattle hardcore like I have something majorly loose in my panel. Glad you found your problem.
