60-62 COE Engine Dress

FOR SALE:

Most, if not all, the dress from a (I believe) 1960-62 292 Ford Y-block and transmission. This is a complete COE motor from what I was told it was out of a fire truck. This is a Ford motor, not a Lincoln. I have the coolant hoses, brackets, cooling system expansion tank and its hardware/brackets, crank driven fan, Holley 4V truck carb, fuel pump, the B-W T98A four speed with integral E-brake and both the standard top-shifter assembly and most of the special COE shifter assembly. There are more trinkets on the motor and they all go with the sale.

I have pretty much a complete motor and trans from fan to driveshaft from oil pan to air cleaner. I'm keeping the basic motor (long block, water pump, tins) the bellhousing/hydraulic clutch, the 4V intake manifold and the ramshorns exhaust manifolds for a hot rod project. Everything else can be had for a very reasonable price.

E-mail me at keller428@hotmail.com to save these parts! Contact me for pics and better list of what is available.

Thanks!

-Mike.

Are you willing to part with the water pump pulley and fan?

I might need it for my build. On the COE motors the cooling fan is driven off the crank hub/harmonic balancer.

I used a 58 coe "C" series with 292 engines as my work truck for over 10 years.
The rams-horn exhaust manifolds and 4v intake are very desirable items. Also
pull the pan & check if it has a forged crank, they only came in heavy duty applications
and are rare as many were consumed by drag racers. Anytime one sent Y-blocks out
for rebuilding, you could be sure it came back with a cast iron crank.
Also during my wrecking yard days I would tear these engines down with a buddy
of mine who is a Y-block expert and we noticed at least 5 very different combustion
chamber designs.

Last week I was in a truck yard and found a 60ish C600 with the HD292. The guy wants $500 for the engine. Of course to him it's just any old 292. I'd love to get it just for the 4bbl intake and steel crank, sell the rams horns and only be out about $100! It's silly, really. You only gain 13 HP and even less torgue. I have a '62 C600 with the MD 292.

The 4v was important, because we used Carter AFB's on all our trucks.
They were insanely more fuel efficient and easier on upkeep than the
"re-tune with a hammer Holley 2bbl & 4bbls"

It doesn't have a forged crank in it unless someone pulls the pan & checks

I've already got the RamsHorns on the three deuce '57 272 my '48 Ford Tudor Sedan. I'm keeping the 4V intake for another project or if the 94's on my three deuce set up turn into a PITA.

The motor is still together so I havn't checked the crank out yet....but I got my fingers crossed that its forged. I got a buddy whos giving me a 6V71 blower (yeah, I know......) that I'm going to convert to gas/high RPM use and make a manifold to put it on the COE 292 motor.
