Fuel Regulator screen fix

Reading through the Tips and Tricks page here and decided to check the FPR screen. Very easy to do and really made a difference in throttle response. Here's a pic of the crap I scraped off that little screen.

I can see how that would make a difference. Where exactly is it and how do you get to it to clean it?

there is 3 10mm bolts holding the assly. on your fuel filter housing..remove bolts and pry apart carefully(do not lose o-rings)and pay close attention where they came from in case they fall out! you will see the screen it is round and looks like steel wool wound together very tightly. Mine came out of it's housing and I used brake cleaner and air several times to be sure I got all the dirt out of it. Reasemble in the order removed and you should be ok.

by the way..do not use brake cleaner with the screen in the assly. Remove screen before spaying.

Click on the link under the word "here" in the original post.

The instructions are down the page aways. One thing I'd add to his description of how to do it are that the screen is on the end of the nipple that comes out of the fuel filter housing. And you'll probably need something to pry it out far enough to get at it. I used the handle of the ratchet I was using to take it off in the first place. The feeler gauge set that I had handy worked well for the scraping too.

You can clean it from inside the filter bowl without taking the FPR off. It's much easier. I just used a mirror and a Qtip stick with no cotton. Just don't poke a hole in it. I used to pull the FPR to do it because I kept forgetting I could do it from inside the bowl with the filter out.
