1988 Ecm

I have a 88 f-250 that has a 302 and a manual trans. The ECM that I pulled out of it has the last letters AE2A. Suppliers tell me they did not make this and can not find one. Will an AEA work from NAPA, CARQUEST ect??? Where is this 2 coming from? Any help would be great.

I ran across this with my former 88 F-150 that had a bad ECM. I think it was something like X2B which was replaced by just XB instead. The AEA part should work out OK in that case.
