Rough ride

I have a '96 XLT with the four shock setup in the front. There are Rancho RS5000 shocks all the way around. When driving, there is no give in the suspension. It feels like the shocks are locked. Is this the fault of the shocks or something else? BTW, here are Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 31x10.5x15 tires on it. I would like to soften the ride.

Rough ride

The ride is most likely due to the stiff shocks. I drove a bronco last month that had those same shocks on it and it was extremly rough and not comfortable to ride in at all. I have Gabriel shocks in my 93 Bronco. They seem to ride quit well on the road ( I don't do a lot of off roading). I get a much softer ride with them. You could try replacing one of the shocks on either side with a softer shock to see if it makes for a better ride. If not, then change out the others as well. You can probably sell the shocks you have on there with no problem. Good luck. Let us know what happens.
