12 volt and 6 volt differences
Can anyone tell me a way to figure out if my generators are twelve volt. I'm going with 6 volt (call me old fashioned) and have 3 old units but can't tell 12 from 6. Also I have a nice looking heater motor that has a long series of numbers stamped on and in the middle of the string it has 12v. Can I assume it means 12volt? If so I've got one to trade for a 6volt. Also thanks to the guys that told me how to swap out the front motor mounts from a car to use my 239 trunk mounts. Tks Steve

You might want to try your local Advance Auto as they test alternators and starters. They might be able to test Gens as well. As far as the 12 v on the heater motor, I would say that it probably means 12 volt. You can get 6 volt stuff from most of the old truck suppliers.
