Man how ya'll get that lucky...I'm a senior too and I get stuck with a new truck... freaking fuel injected crap... I want a carb with some power. Only thing I like about my truck is it's a stick. But it's a five speed with no granny gear...WTH?
Ha. ya I put money in my savings account since I was like 4, just so I could get this truck! I thought I would never find it but I did. You know, I bet you could sell that ranger and get a man's truck. lol. But I wish I had your fuel economy.
True...I can't complain about the 21 MPG I hit at my last fillup. The power is good I must admit, it's reliable and fairly simple to work on. Doesn't give any problems.
I do envy those around with older trucks though... guy in my English class has an older Ford, immaculate body, less than 30K on it, sat in a garage for a long time, regular cab, short bed, new yellow paint, 390 FE with some mods, straight piped. Man, best sounding truck I've ever heard.
Oh yeah man, headers and straight pipes on an old engine...ain't NOTHING ever going to rival that sound. Ford, Chevy, whatever. If it's old and it's real and it's big, it's American thunder.
Been there. When I was changing mufflers last summer I decided to take it for a spin uncorked. When I floored it on the way back.... You could feel it in your chest!
I think everyone in the neighborhood was deaf for at least a week!
Haha. ya I did that on my way to the muffler shop to have the couplers welded on. my buddy was a 1/2 mile AHEAD of me, with the windows UP, and he said he could still here me when I wasnt romping on it. American Muscle is bada$$.
You young men are making me nostalgic. Had a Dodge D100 w/ 318 AT holley 4bbl and headers. Bought a donor truck and converted to manual w/granny and 4.11 rear end. Spent one summer doing prep and painted it in the barn. Had lots of fun in that ole truck.
Glad we could bring back some memories. lol. I just wish I had someone close to home who was interested in these sweet rides rather than these dang ol' rice burners that get 30-35mpg. i like watchin my gas gauge drop as I smoke 'em!
Okay i have a 1969 F100 shortbed with a 352 in it and I am currently wanting to get some extra power from it. Right now all I have new on the engine is an Edlebrock carb, so any suggestions on what I should do to get more power?
If you decide to get a new distributor, consider our custom curved Duraspark Distributor built with our new Full Length Oil Impregnated Bronze Bushing. The full length bushing improves timing stability and spark scatter. If stock appearance is not an issue, take a look at our one piece D.U.I. Distributor. Whether you choose the Duraspark or the D.U.I., we curve each on a distributor machine based on your engine combination. Please see them at:
Ha dang alot of posts when im not around, i love my truck and i got lucky enought to get it for free from me dad, the only think i dislike is my trans. for some reason its a 3 speed and i want to swap a 4 speed in for it. im just happy its not auto =]
If you want a older tranny with the granny gears, look for a New Process 435 4spd. If you want something a little different go for a top loader 4 or 5 spd. I'd like one for gas mileage but on the other hand I like mine already. Oh ya.... it must be nice to get stuff for free! lol.
Ha yes it is, all i need to do is a little rust repair on the bed and im paintin her this summer, i kind of want to go something out of the ordinary but i dont know what yet, ill have to start looking for that trans soon. the good thing about my trans is the hurst shifter =] soon i think straight pipes sound like a good idea also
