How many people have had this? Here is the setup: 2005 FX4 Crew 30,000 miles. Thanks to this forum I believe I am having IWE/4x4 Vacuum Solenoid issues and inquired w/ the dealer. Told him the noises I am hearing and that I have done some research on forums and have almost definitely identified the problem. Dealer asks me if I have had the 30K check up to which I reply no. I asked what this check up includes and he proceeds to list a bunch of items (oil, trans fluid, PCV valve check, driveline check, exaust check, rotate the tires, etc). I asked what would happen if I denied the service and he said the factory warranty is void. I asked how much the check up was. He said $445. I am wondering if I can get these issues I have covered under warranty then at a later date have the check up done.
The dealer I've been going to with 3 different Fords now, (that also had extended warranty to boot), have never checked service records when I've made warranty claims. I never get my work done at the dealer either. I do my own oil changes, but tranny service, brakes, etc get done at a different garage.
I can't see why they wouldn't take care of your issue when you make the claim. If they do I'd go ballistic!

I don't belive you have to have the 30,000 mile service or any service done at the dealer to keep your warranty from becoming void. You should have all the recommended service done by someone or yourself, and keep all your paperwork handy in case a warranty issue does come up. As long as all recommended services are completed, Ford still has to honor the warranty.

Reason: spelling
What B.S. - they can't make you pay for a "check up" when you have a warranty issue. I'd walk and never look back - there are plenty of good Ford dealers out there, find one of them.
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that thought their thought process was a little screwy. The guy tried to tell me that I "had" to get this service done before they did any warranty work. This was phone call #2. I almost made an appointment (glad I checked this post). I don't want to flame the dealer but can anyone recommend an honest Ford service center in Northern Delaware. Hopefully they can't be too few and far between. Thanks for the replies BTW.
