I found a beauty '79 bronco with a 400cid and rancho shocks, the only porblem is that it runs on propane. How hard and expensive is is to make it run on gas? What is involved in the conversion?
I once knew a guy who pulled the propane off of his mid-seventies F150. He shortly thereafter burnt some valves. Something to do with propane burning cooler than gas.
Strange I was under the impression that a Bronco running on propane was just converted to that using some kind of special kit the might replace the gas carb and mayhbe some other stuff outside the engine. Anyone know anything more about this? Would I have to open up the motor and change some parts?
I don't know for sure. All I know is that his wasn't running and he said it was because he converted it back to propane and that the valves or pistons had burnt in it because the propane burns cooler than the gasoline. Other than what he said I have no clue about it.
I have been told that it is a direct conversion. Swap manifold and carb, and your fuel tank, pump and lines and you are good to go. I have a propane 400 sitting in my garage waiting for me to convert it and install it into my '79 Bronco. Hopefully, I don't need any internal parts!
