Engine losing power

Hi this is my first time excuse me for the spelling or if I left any thing out I've have a 1995 ford f250 4x4 diesel 7.3. I have had it for 5 years so fare. Every couple of weeks ill be driving along and the engine will lose allot of power. All I have to do is pull over and let the engine idle a couple of seconds and I have full power again.And the other symptom is when I am driving along the engine will shut down for a second and keep going.Or if I am at a stop light the engine will turn of and ill have to restart it.
