4X4 not engaging

Just bout a 1990 F-150 XLT Lariat 4X4 and the four wheel drive will not engage. It shifts fine into 4 wheel high, N and low but the front wheels do not spin (hubs locked). I know there could be many differnt things wrong but if some of you have similar problems or solutions would be great.

This may sound like a stupid question, but seeing that you just bought it, Are you sure there is a front drive shaft in it?

Crawl under truck and have someone work linkage (if its a manual xsfer case) The shifter may be broke . (hope fully ) Next jack truck up and spin tire with hub locked in . If drive shaft turns Hubs and front should be OK. That leaves the transfer case Not much to em . I broke the one out in my plow truck yesterday . Goes down road just fine in 2x4 no noise but it just doesn't do anything in 4x4. It has to wait ti;ll snow melt(truck wont fit in garage. )

If its an auto case could be motor ,sensors , or a bad wire . Good luck

Yeah if you have the esof, then the motor for the xfer case is the same as the one for the window motor, and it could be bad.
