This morning when I got in my truck I was going down the road and looked down on the instrument panel only to see a warning light. I get out my owner's manual to find that it says emission system. The truck runs and sounds normal. I have a '06 5.4 (21,000 miles) with the Edge Evo and Magnaflow Catback. I've had the Magnaflow on since last July w/ no problems at all. The truck is still under waranty, it's just a major inconvenince with my schedule to have the dealership take a look at it. (but I have a feeling thats what I'm gonna have to do anyhow) I don't know if it's just a sensor or maybe even a exhaust leak w/ my cat-back. Anyone have this warning? I could do what my Dad used to do when there was a warning on his dash....just put a piece of black electrical tape over it, problem solved!! HELP!!!!
I can handle checking the exhaust leak part of it, but where is there a sensor/sensors. I have no idea what I would be looking for and if I find it, how do I know if its bad or not? Thanks!
o2 and mass air flow sensors. they're inside your air intake. you're looking for dirt/oil. since you're looking and checking you should go ahead and clean it anyways. i'm not sure exactly what you're supposed to use to clean it, but i'm sure there's at least a couple helpful persons on here that could help with you that.
The only type of sensor I found is what appears to be a plug that goes into the top (on the right side) of your intake. Right beside where it says "5.4L Triton". I unplugged that and looked at it, looked as clean as clean could be. Checked underneath at all all the exhaust joints and there didn't appear to be anything wrong there, I wouldn't think it would be a exhaust manifold problem/leak. Only other thing i know is to unhook the battery and rehook it to let the PCM re-program itself. Just sorta a pain since I have the Edge and have to go and first return it to stock and then go in an download the Edge to my PCM again.
