I don't know were to start I'm not much of a motor head. I just bought a 1994 F-350 with 8in lift and pushing 38in tires. As I can tell nothing has been done to the engine, there are no nock's no smoke no leaks it runs really well. I'm needing some tips on were to start on getting more horsepower from my 460. I was thinking of starting off with a S&B cool air intake and Headman headers. Does anybody have any other suggestions? I'm really not wanting to go to crazy like a complete overhaul or anything like that. Thanks for your help.
First question i have for you is was the truck regeared? Because I own a 460 f-250 and I can tell you that the motor really doesnt need any major power increases. Cold air intake and exhaust would be sufficient.
First welcome of you to FTE you will find lots of good info for your ford trucks.
And I have to agree with Poor Boy first question with the tire size change was were the gears changed? If not I think you will find a lot of your power back right there. Next I would look into a good set of headers, the exhaust is the restrictive area on these engines so anything you can do to improve exhaust flow is a good place to start (of coarse you already mentioned that) I suppose a tuner might be a help too, but really check those gears.
