Whistle sound

Hello. Just signed up and have a question. After turning the key on{ during the delay time.} There is a whistling sound coming from the engine area. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. Lami68

It helps to post what year and model and engine. Any idea on about where the noise is coming from?

Sorry about the lack of info. 1999 F250 Powerstroke 7.3 My son has the truck and they are out at Lake Havasu. I'm just relaying his information. He seems to think it is coming from the fuel pump area. Thanks

Ok, so this is occuring while he is waiting for the glow plug light to go out? Not while it's running?

That is correct. He says it is before he starts it. He says it will start but the whistle noise is there prior to starting. Thanks again. Lami68

See if he can pinpoint it to the passenger side just in front of the AC housing. Sounds kinda like a vacuum leak.
