Super easy spinge. The only hard part was getting my fingers in the little holes to feed the wires properly. I honestly can't even remember if I had to remove or at least "loosen" the door panels. If so, it was also was super easy. I did mine in about 2 beers (about a half an hour). I got mine on e-bay, but they're everywhere.
How much did you pay, and were they the power mirrors or the manual. The truck I am looking at has the power mirrors, and I would like to keep that, as well as get turn signals and such. Besides fishing the wires, do the plugs and such mate up?
If they are just the standard power mirrors, if you get the power mirror replacements, it's a direct fit. There is a couple of mods to make the heated/turn signal mirros work, but I'm not sure what they are. Mine were a direct swap of the regular power mirrors. I paid about $290.00 for the pair in excellent condition (new swap outs...i.e., the guy took 'em off to put on those with the heated/turn signal). I've seen 'em had for less, and seen 'em had for more. I think Ford has 'em for about $325.00 new. Bidding on E-bay is fun though! Here's a link I found on this forum re the mirror swap. Just scroll down a bit.
My advice is to stay away from the ebay mirrors. Just dont know what you are getting.
The swap is super easy. I did mine in about a hour. I went prom power sport mirrors to power TT mirrors. I dont have signals or heat. You will need to fish wires and find the power for the heat and the supply for the signals.
There is issues with the plugs being the same. The early year trucks had differnt plugs. There are adapters though.
Piece of cake. when you take the old mirrors off tie a string to the wires and when you pull it through you can tie the string back on the new mirrors and pull the wires right back through where they are suppose to go.
They will come with 4 small zip ties,..........don't loose them, the plug adapter will need to be tied up to the main harness to make sure it wont slip down into the window path.

One of the easiest ways to run those wires is to buy like a 12"-18" long 1/4 or 3/8" plastic pipe and feed it through the door panel and into the truck.....then all you have to do is slide the wires through...takes a few minutes...
