95 olds 88 help Please?

Hello
I got a 95 olds 88 royale 3800 engine. It surges upon acceleration from a stop it is a hard surge like when you toe tap the gas.( goes stalls goes stalls and then as you speed up it smoothes out.. hope you understand what I mean) . I believe this car has the ob1 computer and I managed to read the codes with a buddies scanner and 3 came up but I do not know what to do about it.. Here they are.
1) P1257 - Boost control fault system overboost.
2) P0705 - Transmission range sensor circuit malfunction
3) P0171 - Bank 1 system too lean

Any and all help appreciated..

Do a search for those DTCs, and I'm sure you'll find some helpful info.

But these guys should be able to provide better help for your Olds:

Actually it's OBDII, with those codes.

Boost control overboost? Is this a supercharged motor?!
If not, I can't help you.

Trans range malfunction.. basically it's saying there's a circuit problem in the transmission selector switch... might just be a glitch.

Bank 1 too lean is what I'd concentrate on. Check for broken vacuum lines. Spray carb cleaner around the intake with the engine running and listen for an idle change.. if you notice a change then you should be able to find where the vacuum leak is.

If all of this reveals nothing, then try cleaning the mass air flow sensor.

Good luck
