Which lift?

Hi everyone, i have a 1999 f-150 4x4 5.4l extended cab. I am looking at lifts and do not currently have money for a suspension lift nor do i really want a 6" lift...i just want something i can run 35's on without rubbing.

I have looked at the 3" PA body lift and i realize that a lot of people talk down about body lifts and things, but they seem safe to me. If i were to get this what else would i need...i've thought about the extended shifters needed on older model trucks...but is that needed on my truck?

The next option, i have been also looking at the torsion keys and add a leaf option. What other things would have to be done with this mod? And is it safe? It just doesn't seem safer to me to lift my truck 3" and but this strain on my t-bars than to go with the body lift.

I also heard that putting new shocks on my truck could lift it a couple of inches. Anyways i am planning on ordering either the body lift with gap guards or a torsion key kit and add a leaf kit tonight. Just looking for the least dangerous and least harmful to my truck. So if anyone has any advice i would appreciate it.

Thanks,
TJ

Hey Tj it depends on your rims and tires, as to if it will rub or not, I just installed the 2"key and rear block lift on my 2001 F150 with the 17x9 DC1 rims and it looks great, But the tires are a tic big and rubs a little, so Im going with the 2" body lift as well..Im trying to decide between the 2" or 3"..the new keys feel like the stock ride, just get a set of 2" extended shocks, procomp makes them, I have,nt drove mine yet with the total setup, but the 2" torsion lift and 315/70/17 loooks sweet, I;ll post pic soon, heres a pic of the stock tires 265/70/17 with the 2" keys and rear lift installed, its at a shop right now just looking perty with the wheels and tires waiting on the body lift, Im worried the 3" will be to much for a good look over a more factory look of the 2" body lift..but it will be close..

this is the rims I used,But I used 315/70/17 goodyear AT extreme tires and this truck looks close to what mine looks like right now same stance and look, I could run truck with a little trimming of front bumper valance But im playing it safe and adding a body lift what you think..I wanted this 4" to 5"
rough country suspension lift for about 1K more than I got in mine so far but my wife wiged out at the price errr with me buying tires and rims at the same time the $$$ were adding up quick, this truck looks sweeet..mine will be very close...I like it..

this is a before

this is after with 2" level kit

front after level kit
with the new tires, ive removed the mud flaps and the tire barley touches where they were mounted, and they hit the front bumper valance thats with the 17x9, 17x8 I might of been ok..cant wait to get pic up..

Ok thanks to nightrain Im sticking to the 3" body kit I have on order, Ive looked at several photos, and if done right the 3" body lift looks awesome, and with the 2" torsion lift a total of 5" of lift with the 315/70R17 which measure 2.5" taller than the stock 265/70R/17 side by side, is going to be a 7.5" taller stance..wow Its going to look sweeet..Might be doing some gearing sooon...I;ll be posting some pic toward the end of the weak....
