Hey all, I need some of yalls opinions on mudding. I have an 5.4 2004 f150. its two wheel drive. my friend and i went mudding in his two wheel drive chevy yesterday. it handled pretty good but his truck was a single cab and is alot lower then my truck. whats yalls advice if i do go mudding in my truck. is it safe?
how would you clean the mud off the engine? wait for it to dry and spray it off with water? i use to leave the mud on my truck after i go mudding, but now i hear that the mud and water will rust your truck if you keep it on. not sure thats true if the mud is dry on your truck though. yeah i dont ever go with one truck to do some mudding
I take it to the local selfclean and powerwash the engine first while its still running then tackle the outside. As for two wheel drive is concerned, I rarely ever need to put it in 4wd but its good to know I have it if I need it. Personally I wouldn't buy a truck without 4wd unless to tub out the rear and slam it to the ground for racing.
it will be ok to take in the mud and play around. I would most certainly not take it mudding (five or six feet of mud in a mud bog or similar) If you are just gonna tear up a muddy field (alwalys good fun ) it will work as good as anything, i do that in my truck without ever turning on the 4 wheel. If you want to do serious mudding i would get a 4x4 and a lift.
I tried mudding for the first time in my 99 Jeep cherokee Limited. When I Left I had done $3000 in damage to the driveshaft and front diff. LOL Ever since then I just can't get myself to do it. Especially with my 07 F150.
Be prepared financially for the breakdown you dont expect. And be prepared to get it towed to the car wash and clean it before you tow it to the dealer. Many of us WILL NOT fix your mud caked chasis till YOU clean it or pay to have it cleaned.
Oh, I'll never forget I had so much mud caked in my wheels that the balance was off and my jeep wwas thumping down the road. My front bumper also got torn off. It was 5 minutes of mudding, and I paid dearly for it. Probably close to one of the worst feelings I have ever had. LOL
