I have a 2000 F150 4x4 Lariat 5.4litre 3:55 gears automatic with Traction Lok rear end. A couple of friends have told me that I have Traction Lok or limited slip/whatever in the front end also. I'm not sure if I believe them. How can I find out? Can you tell by just looking at the pumpkin/differential? Man it sure gets around a lot better than any other outfit I have ever had. While hunting, other outfits with chains on all four tires were following me. I ain't kiddin! Can anyone help?
You got my mind going. when I brought home my 2000 F150 there was alot of snow so I pulled it up in the lot next to the house and asked my girlfriend to watch as I punched it and she says both tires in front spun....
I always wondered that, too.
My 03 has the 3.73:1 with limited slip
(I didn't order it, it was just on the lot like that.)
It has the larger rear case (like on 250's) and staggered Rancho shocks...but is not an FX4.
My dealer told me that this doesn't make the rear a "Posi" (a GM term)
...but the differential simply applies torque to the opposite clutches that are "slipping"..i.e. spinning in snow, etc.
causing more tractive force applied therein.
I didn't ask, but it would seem that this $300.00 would cover both axles.
