Replcing the CPS solved the dying problem immediately. When we scanned the codes after replacing the CPS, it had a CPS code set. No more problems with the truck dying.
After replacing the diff fluid, the speedo started working again. After disconnecting the batteries for a while, the OD light cleared also. Truck seems to be running fine now. I would have never guessed that changing the diff fluid would solve the problem. I used Mobil 1 synthetic and some friction additive. Didn't even chatter. I did some figure 8's just to be sure.
I really don't think there is anything wrong with the tranny. I had it rebuilt about 18 months ago by a reputable shop. I've had absolutely no problems with it since. When driving the truck with the scanner connected, both sensors on the trans were reading correctly.
The truck was not really "stalling" at low speeds, it would just cut off like you turned the key off. I was doing about 60 on the highway, and it just quit. Dead. I really did have to restart it about 50-75 times to get home. It would restart, drop it in gear, and go about 10 seconds, then die. Coast a while...restart...do it again until I got home. Luckily I only had about 3-4 miles to go. CPS cured that immediately.
Hello this is my first post although Ihave been a long time reader. I am having a similar problem. Last night on my way to plow snow I got the flashing OD light and I knew what that normally indicates but I don't think it is actually a tranny problem or atleast I hope. I have a 2001 f-250 cc 4wd with a 4" exhaust,6637,superchips 1705 on tow safe, and recently rebuilt tranny with TCI torque converter. Try to keep this to the point. At the time I was pulling a skidloader and had plow on the truck. I immediately pulled over and pulled over and pulled the codes po713 and po603. The fluid nor dipstick were all that warm, according to my gauge 100-110, truck acts fine. Sorry for being long winded. I am thinking voltage, sensor,or tuner problem. I greatly appreciate any opinions.
