Oxygen sensor quality.

96 Aerostar 3.0 Shorty Cargo

I am getting a check engine light. A friend who works at the ford dealership read the codes and said it's an oxygen sensor problem... something about a delayed something or other.

This happened within days of having a new exhaust system installed.

Anyhow, I would like to replace both sensors and am exploring my options. I don't want to be a cheapo and have it bite me later but I also like to get the best value for my money... and if I can do some work and save a fair number of dollars even better.

I usually shop at Autozone and Napa.

Autozone gets $58/each for the Bosch 4 wire sensor w/16.5" wire harness.
-or- $54/each for the Bosch 4 wire with a 13" harness.

Ebay has sesnsors advertised for 96 Aerostars ranging starting at about $25 shipped. Although most don't have the connector, I would have to reuse my old connector. And the ones on ebay come in 1, 2, and 4 wire versions.

There are some on ebay with connectors... items numbers 330098065682 and a different one 130036517422 (click to view).

Are the ebay ones crap? And why are there 16.5" and 13" harnesses at autozone, which do I need?

I would appreciate some advice so I can make the right decision.

To determine the length of the wire, measure your old ones. My 4.0L and 3.0L require different lengths. I have never used the Ebay ones, so I can't say about their quality, but the Bosch O2 sensors have been OK for me so far, as long as you replace them every 60K miles or so. 100K miles is pushing it a bit.
