In my real world, I will be towing a 28' enclosed trailer that will weigh 10,000lbs. It's like dragging a barn door sideways ...
Temps stay in the 90s and get over 100 degrees for a significant portion of my towing season. And the terrain is mostly flat with a few hills. But no mountain passes.
Will the 07 version PSD and auto trans stay cool enough under these "real world" conditions?
If it never goes over the 180 rang your doing good but it's always a good idea to add an extra aftermarket tranny cooler. Cooler is better. The cooler you keep it the longer it will last!
The transmission cooler on my PSD is bigger than the engine radiator on my 93 chevy truck. You can add it, but I don't know of anyone with any overheating issues with the stock cooler. I'd be more worried about keeping grass, etc. out of the front than adding an extra cooler. Spend your money on some real gauges first--the stock ones are all junk with the exception of the boost gauge. You might find you don't even need an extra cooler.
If I got it with the towing package...I'd feel pretty comfortable.
Important detail I omitted ... sorry. Yes, it is equipped with towing/camper "upgrades".
Gauges ... not sure where to put them ... A-pillar is not an option. I need the "oh ****" handle.
I would like to monitor trans temps, engine oil temps and EGT.
I'm looking at a generic 3 gauge pod that would attach to the upper concsole

Another answer from someone doing alot of pulling, don't worry about adding additional cooling. I live outside Albuquerque, NM, and pull a 38' 16,000 # fifth wheel. I've never had an issues with over heatign, even in the NM and AZ mountains. Use Tow/Haul mode and enjoy.
