a month or so ago i replaced a 3 injectors. truck started great fired right off almost as good as a cummins motor. well now its back to the long crank its always had. my question is what could possibly cause a long crank. remember this has been the norm untill the injectors where replaced. so what might have changed besides the injectors that made it start so nice for a while
Have you checked your HPO reservior checkvalve? IOW, does it do it only after sitting for a while but starts right off when warm? If so, let it sit overnight and pull the allen plug on top of the HPO and make sure the oil is within an inch of the top. If not, your oil is draining out of the HPO into the pan. Any other symptoms? Kind of a short post. How does it run/sound? How long did it start just fine before pooping out again and cranking long?
What if the oil is draining out of the HPO and into the pan?? Because mine has long cranks in the mornings or when it sits for a while, but it fires right up when it's warm...
SO, I let my truck sit almost 24 hrs, and had a hard time starting her. It took almost 7 attempts to get it started on level ground, so I went looking for the hpop resivour allen key. Didn't have a socket set to remove the intercooler pipe, so I started to check everything else out. There is a fitting on top of the engine in front of the fuel filter with an electtrical connector on it, and it seems like it shoudl be snug, but is a little wiggly.
Next I found that both negative battery conncetions are not super tight, and might be lossening up, so I wiggled them a bit. Went to atempt to start one more time and it kick over instantly, as before it only cranked.
How can I accurately diagnose what is the real issue? It now seems it could be electical in addition to the hpop going bad, maybe?
