TSB question

Gentlemen,

Just had my 06 in for misc work at the dealer that sold me the truck. Do they pull an Oasis or TSB on the vin or do I need to request it? In looking at FTE's TSB there is one for warped cover over the bumper and I have that situation! Why don't they fix it then? ****'s me off, now I have to take it back when it could have been fixed while it was there for other discrepancies. Also, how is an owner to know if issues if he/she is not notified by Ford? Just like my door issue, if I did not bring it up it would have been pushed by the wayside. Also, I read about a reflash that states that my injectors should cycle for 30 scds after shutoff. My truck does not do that and they just replaced and reprogrammed the pcm. See (What the?) in the forum.

I appreciate your time!

Regards from Nampa, Id (Go Broncos- FIESTA BOWL CHAMPS!)

The 30 second buzz flash is now history as of around March 1. I had the buzz, hated it

A tsb isn't a recall, its a notice (actually to techs) that if a customer has this complaint, this is how to fix it.

It does seem that Ford could save some money if they did review potential TSB's on a vehicle when they had it in their shop. Granted, that could take some time however I would think most of the TSB problems could be identified pretty quickly if a little "cheat sheet" was developed so that a tech could read a brief summary on the issue and what to look for. Ford (and the others as well) don't seem to realize how frustrated customers get by having to take their vehicles in to get know issues fixed. The frustration could jeopardize future business, don't they realize this?

The same thing is happening to me right now: I brought my truck in for a TSB related issue and the dealer fixed it right up. Now, a month later I realize that the reason for my side windows getting scratched is not because of me doing a poor job of cleaning the truck (which I couldn't believe since I wash it by hand at least weekly), it is because of faulty window molding that there is a TSB out for. Since I read the TSB, it is obvious that is the problem and I am sure that it wouldn't have taken more than 10 seconds time for the dealer to identify it. So now, I have to take the truck back to them to fix this issue......it doesn't seem very efficient.

A good dealer will always run Oasis and TSB checks on a vehicle when they come in. As stated earlier, The TSB is an informational system for the tech to check against when a customer makes a complaint of a problem. Even though we now have ways to find and obtain the TSB, they are really not for customer knowledge. If the tech verify's a customers complaint and it is listed in a TSB, the fix is quickly explained to them there. Just because there is a TSB it doesnt mean that the problem effects every vehicle, so they will not just automaticly perform a TSB fix. Think of it this way. If they performed every TSB on every vehicle that came in whether it needed it or not, or if the tech had to go over every vehicle from top to bottom to see if the TSB complaint existed on the vehicle, that wouldnt be very efficient to them either. It would drive up warranty costs and therefore the price you pay for the vehicle up front. Most vehicles have numerous TSB's. Ford or any other manufacturer for that matter does not like to pay these guys proper time as it is and they certainly are not going to pay them time to check each vehicle for TSB's that a customer hasnt complained about. It all comes down to dollars and cents. They are not looking to pay for a repair that they do not have to because it is not effecting the customer and they assume that if something is effecting the customer they will complain about it.

It is against Fords policy to pay dealers for performing ANY warranty repair that was not stated by the customer on the repair order. In other words, "warranty up-sell no good"...
