what all years and models are they the same? my truck has one out a a 79 in it and it is way to big. so I am guessing maybe 61-66? and f100 up to 600 of bigger? thanks
Post 66 trucks are wider and won't fit the mountings. I tried that too.
61-66 are all the same. Not sure about the bigger trucks, but they are probably the same since the cabs are actually about the same size. Problem is the material they were made out of is not very durable. I bought repro ones and will probably cover them with upholstery to make them look better.
As noted, 61-66 same. Took few salvage runs but was able to find vinly Custom Cab visors in good condition. I used aerosol can of the 'fusion' paint, but can also dye them. Looks like repro. vinyl visors can run up to $ 80 ea. Have not had to shop for parts for past yr. or so, but used to see them in salvage yards and ebay on occasion.
Visor can usually be removed from the arm/rod if carefull, if visors no good, may want to save cost for brackets if should decide to go vinyl.
Yeah, I tried white ones from the 70's and found them to be too long from end to end. So those sit in the garage now. Then I got lucky and saw a NOS 65-66 set in an off white on eBay and managed to get it. So much better having those visors hanging down or up against the new headliner as compared to the original black ones. The black ones are now sitting in the garage also.
1961/66 Sun visors fit everything except the Econolines, and C Series flat nosed cabovers. The retaining clip at the end of the rod is the same as used on 1961/67 Econolines.
I went down to the local yard with my visor from the 66 F100. I found a 1980's (cant remember exact year) and pulled the visor right off of the metal bar. I then pulled the 66 visor off of the metal bar and pushed the 1980's visor on. I had to mive the clip on the 66 about an inch towards the center of the cab and eveything worked great. Right color and it has worked great for over two years. Just a though and another option.
