There were power brake boosters that were operated hydraulically from the stock master cylinder. Those could be mounted on the frame, or I think I saw one mounted to the inner fender. Check out a Motors Truck manual that covers this era; it shows the unit. I don't think it's a sensible choice, unless you're a stickler for period authenticity and must have power brakes.

It's a Midland Vacuum Booster mounted on the Frame Rail under the Driverside of the Cab.
If you look in my "Gallery" under "Options" you'll see what the complete set-up looks like.

thanks i think one of those would be more trouble and really hard to find but its nice to know. i guess ill just have to go experiment and see if i can come up with something.

Actually the hydroboost systems have been around for a long time. The '03 Mustang Cobra was the last vehicle I physically saw one mounted from the factory. The donor '76 Lincoln I bought had one as well. If you have power steering they are a pretty good system to have.

i was thinking about a hydroboost but have heard that if you use the steering and the brakes alot at the same time performance can suffer. is this true.
