I purchased a 2002 F-150 Sport. There is a substance or film on the windshield. I tried every commercial cleaner available, also household cleaners to no avail. The problem is a film on the windshield when it rains. If you turn on the wipers, it makes spots on the window like a spotted leopard. If oncoming cars have their headlights on, you can't hardly see out the front window. Seems this is the only window with that problem. If you don't turn on the wipers then it seems to be clear. I have replaced the wiper blades too. I talked to the dealer and they didn't have any suggestions except cleaners that I have mentioned. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks,
Jim
try a cleanser like zud. i had a similar problem & it worked great. just sprinkle it on and wipe lightly with a very damp sponge. my windshield never looked so clean.
zud is a cleanser that you use to clean the bathtub ring off your bathtub, assuming its not fiberglass, or some kind of plastic. i'm talking about the old cast iron, porcelain type tubs. you should be able to find it at hardware stores, home depot, may walmart.
Try Bestine Rubber cement thinner.
Highly volatile (i.e. acetone)
but paint friendly if you spill any....
evaporates almost immediately.
I use it a degreaser for decal goo and tar.
Arts/craft stores sell it by pints, quarts, or gallons.
I've seen the mystery spots you describe.
The wife's Merc. Villager had them. The Bestine took it right off.
My truck had the suction cup circles on the front and rear glass
when they fogged up~~~ not any more!
We both use liberal amounts of rain-X....
Anyone not using RX is in for a real treat.
I haven't used my wipers in years, except for morning dew.
