when i spin the wheel i can hear it rubbing does this mean my bearings are gone any adjusment i can do myself first or do i have to take it in to have it readjusted
You can't adjust the bearings. IF the engine is off, and you can grasp the hex nut on the end of the wheel and push with moderate pressure towards the edge and then spin, and if it scrapes, the turbocharger is gone. Don't run it. you are destroying that and possibly the engine. Good time to upgrade!
ok new turbo time ive looked around and everyone talks about injectors i dont want to add injectors. I wont be doing no power modifications so what would be a good turbo. I dont want one that has a super loud whistle i like a good mixture between whistle and rumble. I have intake exhaust dp tuner. I preffer one that spools up fast on lower end. I want one that wont surge with the mods i have. I dont tow much except for a four wheeler. I also dont get the difference between wast gated and non. Any opinions???? Also when you buy a new turbo it comes with a new wheel and everything right?
If you don't plan on changing out injectors at all, i would recommend a .84 A/R wastegated Turbonetics stock-replacement turbocharger, from BlackWidow Diesel .com. If i could do it over again i would have done the 1.0 ceramic coated Turbonetics. I have heard that it is alot quieter than the Garrett BB model that is "comparable". I have never heard an instance with stock injectors where they could get a .84 to surge.

That is exactly what I was thinking when reading the question above. Brian (BWD) has had excellent results with that turbo. Surge is gone, spool is quick. If you decide to get one from him, be sure to tell him that you heard about it on FTE.
ok you guys know better then me ceramic coating yes or no. high flow outlet yes or no i have marks five inch exhaust with 4 inch down pipe. ebv pedestal yes or no from what i read it has its advantage and so does the high flow outlet. coated up pipes yes or no. and ceramic coated outflow yes or no. Also will this fit just like the stock without me having to modify anything and would you guys recomend replacing all the o rings while i have the turbo off like the pedestal. And is this pretty easy to install the haynes manual makes it look pretty simple.
Also if i got the 1.0 and didnt get injectors would it decrease performance a little sense im not putting as much power into the turbo for what it was designed for? I cant say i wont ever get injectors but it is highly unlikely but if i can run turbo made for it without losing performance might as well get it and leave the option open in case i change my mind. Thanks for the help i really appreciate all the help i get on here from you guys ive learnt so much.

if you don't do any heavy towing, it's all about how much money do you want to spend? If it were me id do ceramic coating yes, HFO coated yes, coated up pipes yes, EBPV delete and pedestal yes. It will fit just like stock, the attaching dimensions as far as the pedestal, and the compressor outlet and the exhaust side are all designed to directly replace the stock turbo. a 1.0 i would choose if you do towing, it will lower backpressure on the engine and it will give you more top-end performance without restricting the engine too much. If you think injectors will be in the future, do the 1.0.
Anyone live in colder climates that have delted the ebpv? I plan on moving back to colorado and was wondering how much the ebpv aids in cold starts. I do have a block heater if that makes a difference.
Although I didn't delete mine, I do have it on a manual switch. Even with the exceptionally cold winter we had in Missouri this year, I didn't use my EBPV to help warm the truck up.
The EBPV doesn't aid in the actual startup process, but can help the truck warm up quicker after it's started. However, once you're driving, it will be open 98% of the time, so it's effects become small. It's when your truck is sitting at idle that it helps the most with warmup. And I usually don't let it sit at idle for long. I just get in and drive to help it warm up.
