blower motor
i,m really not sure about messing with the AC things but can't figure out anything else. any help i would love. Thanks guys
you have to remove the outer ac housing from the firewall to acces the blower motor.
i think all but a couple of the bolts are on the inside under the dash and behind the glovebox. then you have to swing the evaporator out of the housing to get to the motor.
i have seen a couple of guys work the old fan over after removing the plate from the front of the ac housing, then screw the fan on from the ouside.

I'm one of the guys mentioned who dug through the crap and removed the blower motor and cage, drilled out the rivets holding on the front panel of the heater box (closest to the passenger side valve cover), and then mounted the blower motor on the outside with screws, and replaced the drilled rivets with bolts.
Haven't had to replace the blower since, but man will it be a piece of cake when I do.
Here's a post I made about doing it the hard way - and someone posted on doing it an easier way -

Also, since you are going to have to have the whole thing out anyways, here's another trick I thought of - then found out I wasn't the only one when I came across a heater box in a junk yard that did the very same thing.
Cut out the plastic housing above and surrounding the heater core, then use a good gasket sealer (what's that cheese-it kind of stuff called?) and seal the cut. Next time you have to replace the heater core, you dont have to dig the whole thing out again. I'm also going to add some strips of metal to mine where I cut it at the top, to add more support. Note that I have not done this yet on mine (just seen it on another), but that's what's gonna happen next time that heater core goes bad. I'll be damned if I'm gonna go through all this again, especially with summer temps the way the are here. With my timing my next time will come up during the summer.
You mentioned snow there - I don't know if that's better or worse than the 110+ temps it was when I had to replace my blower motor the last time (when I mounted it outside, too).
Either way, I feel for ya. It's a
