[updated:LAST EDITED ON 21-Jun-02 AT 08:49 PM (EST)]I have question about remove of brake lines from the HCU. The three outside lines have been pinched. My Haynes Repair Manual says you need special equipment to bleed the HCU. So, I went up to my local Ford Dealer and asked if this was the case. The mechanic said that they don't do anything special and just bleed the brake system as normal.
So who is right? Can I just replace the three lines and bleed the brakes and not have any problems? By the way, it's on a '94 Bronco.
I just got back from a Ford Brake class covering that. The hcu can be bled through the dlc with the NGS. That gets it out of the hcu but you still have to do a manual bleed from there. I can see why you got that answer from Ford. Unless you replace the hcu its a normal simple bleed job. Norm.
Thanks Norm,
So if I understand you right..I can't do this myself? Or can I?
I'll give you a little more detail on the problem. Of the three lines that attach to the side of the HCU, the first two are pinched(I think they go to the RABS valve).
the ABS light is on. The brakes feel soft, and seem work other than that. The truck is new to me and I have no history on it. If I didn't give enough detail let me know. Thanks in advance!
