Hi guys. I've got a '99 5.4 148000... Changed the oil about 1800 miles ago and the oil is a quart low. I've had the gaskets replaced about 50k ago...
I don't see any leaks...Do these things burn it that fast?
Wow! 900 per quart! I think mine has always pretty much used this much since I've owned it. I bought it with 33k. If it were rings, I would think I'd see blue smoke....
i have a 99 4x4, 4.6 with 115,000, and i loose about a quart an oil change, i havent seen any blue smoke, and i havnt seen any oil on the engine or ground, i havent really did any searching or paid any attention to it, i just figured that as long as it didnt get worse, it was ok, i know people that have brand new vehicles that loose that much, maybe i am being niave tho ??
try runnin an engine cleaner thru it before the next oil change then add an engine restorer it after the oil change it worked for me when my rings started goin bad in my 97 4.2 l
