Some of the guys out here have 4 strokes - an older RX 1 and a few Apex's. They are pretty nice sleds but the extra weight (100 lbs or so) just doesnt let me have the fun that I can on a light sled. I saw a video w/turbo Apex - the power is awesome. I used to mod sleds - after my Storm, I took an Ultra 680 and put an 800 big bore kit on it. It was fun at the time but i barely have enough time to ride, let alone wrench! The stockers work so well now that my modding days are over.
The four strokes do have some advantages - smoothness, fuel economy, and longevity. On trails or lakes, they are okay. I like deep snow riding and the extra weight just makes them less fun to throw around and carve. My opinion - they need to make smaller displacement 4 strokes to get them lighter and come with factory turbo and efi - then they would be a serious choice for what I want.
I ride abit, but its more of a thing where I used to ride alot, and then kind of quit for awhile, and this next winter Im going to get back into it. Im a huge ski doo fan too
Four strokes - great longevity, fuel mileage but if you want to actually ride the sled in snow throwing it around, they are at least 100 pounds too heavy - they are good on lakes and trails where there isnt deep snow. I am a big guy and they are too heavy for me to throw around. The Nytro is supposed to be lighter but not sure what engine they use. Yamaha will eventually get the weight down to where they need to be.
