3.73 and C6

I just Put a 5.O it is cammed 1500-5200 Intake 4bbl, headers etc, in my 66' f100 it goes like the the wind but I have 3.73's and a C6, I am at 70 mph in a blink but the motor is roaring at 5000 rpm, I know I should probably have gone with an Aod and maybe still should ,even around town it it is revving like hell at just 40 mph. I have low profile 15" tires that measure roughly 25". This is just a street rod not towing or working hard but I do need to take it on the highway, and just can't with this set up. What gears can I go with to make it more drivable. The rear is the original Spicer Posi and in great shape I would hate to pull it but if that is more cost effective than swapping gears I will. I was thinking 3.08 or even 2.73. Will this work?
Thanks

Go here and plug in your numbers.

At 70 MPH with 25 inch tires, 3.73s, and a 1:1 3rd gear, you should be turning 3509 RPM.

At 5000 RPM with that combo, you should be going 99.7 MPH.

You got your tach set for a 4 cylinder or the wrong gears in the speedo drive?

Plug in your other ratios and see what you'll get.

3.25s will run just over 3000 at 70 but should give you plenty of snap, as the old man used to say.....

How do I know my transmission gear ratio to plug in the numbers, there is no way it is only running 3500 rpm at 70, it is screaming, but I will double check my tach and have a buddy drive beside me to test speedo accuracy, so going from 3.73 to 3.25 makes a big differance?
Thanks

Is your trans shifting twice? At 70 in 2nd gear, you would be a 5100+ rpm with your set up.
