flooding and backfiring!

So the other day my uncle and I < mostly my uncle!> got my starter on and my new tires, well after we cranked it the truck started flooding and backfiring through the carb! should i rebuild it or just get a new one?

Depends if you want to spend the money (sometimes $300 or more, sometimes) to get the new one. Could be a simple fix. There's alot of experts here that can tell you what to do. I'm just giving you the heads up. Also might want to tell us what kind of an engine it is. More specifics make these guys shine when it comes to technical help.

I'm so sorry, I forgot all about that! It's 351 modified with a three on the tree!

Are you sure that the float is'nt sticking from sitting so long, if thats not the case I just bought a Holley 500 two barell for my 1976 f-100 for $213.00 From Auto Zone it comes preset just bolt it on.

thanks for the reply, but my dad had his mechanic friend come and pick it up, to do some needed work! Thanx for the info one day i plan to replace the carb with one of those when i ge the money!
