I'm picking up my first SD, a 2001 F250 tomorrow. I'm in need of a winch mounting point for the tuck. I already have a Superwinch EPI 9500 mounted on a 2" receiver that I use with my F150. Yes 9500# for a SD is a little lean, but it's not going to be off-roaded hard, just there for insurance on the logging trails and backwoods driveways.
Does anyone have the Hidden Hitch front receiver on their truck, and how do you like it? JC Whitney has them for $130 which seems like a good price to me. Are there any better or cheaper options?
I have one at the office, we ended up puting a semi hidden kit on my truck instead. I think it's a good option, but. A winch is heavy and you may not always have good footing to carry and mount it.
I have run that type of setup on my '93 for 2 years now with the receiver I have on the custom bumper I built for it. It is a bear to haul through 3' of snow to install, but not having $600 hanging out there to be stolen 24-7 is nice too.
