amp gauge

am going to use original gauges in my 48 and have all gauges wired up with voltage reducers at gauges. i need to know how to wire amp gauge as it appears the wire just runs through a loop . can any one advise me thanks joe black

The amp gauge should work without modification, it is not voltage sensitive.

You do need to reverse the direction tha tthe wire passes thru the loop, or it will read Discharge when it is charging (assunming you went to 12v Neg ground).

The wire just runs through the loop. Ross is correct about the direction the wire runs (pos to neg). That little loop is a current transformer that generates a voltage by having current flow through the wire. That generated voltage moves the needle on the guage. The direction of current flow generates either a positive or negative voltage and that makes the guage read "charge" or "discharge.
