I have a 2003 Ranger 2wd 5 sp on damp days the brakes will squeal and groan when applied the truck only has 80,000 on it and I checked the rears there is still plenty of material left on the shoes now the odd part is the front shoe (the short one) is a riveted shoe the rear one (long one) is a bonded shoe in my 40 + years of working on car and trucks I have never seen this mix before riveted and bonded.
I couldn't buy the brake shoes I wanted so I just sanded the shoes and knocked the glaze off the drums and put it back togather right now it is not squealing or groaning. Anybody else seen this mix of brake shoes?
i had a similar problem with mine i also took the air pistol and blew all the dust outta mine and it has lasted since
my brakes are still original and if memory serves correct they are one bonded and one riveted
