Was having trouble with the 5.0 Litre in my Bronco blowing out black smoke.
The codes point to the oxygen sensor 65.00 bucks later and sore hands and knuckles its worse
Gas mileage was terrible
Someone told me it was the fuel regulator so I unplugged it and the truck kept running. Black smoke is still there but mileage is improving.
Could this be my problem should I change it out ?
Not sure what year you have..Have you tested you fuel pressure with a gauge? (The gauge threads onto a fitting on the fuel rail by the injectors) The O2 sensor is just detecting a rich condition I bet. Could very well be the fuel pressure regulator going bad.
I would definitely check it with a pressure gauge, and replace the regulator if it is bad. I have heard of very bad things happening on our Broncos when the regulator goes bad!
