6.9 to 460

Hi guys, i have been flirting with the idea of swapping out the 6.9 in my 84 f250 and i about have everything figured out except for the trans. i have been reading many posts and from what i have gathered you cannot bolt a diesel trans to a 460 block. It has a four speed manual in it now and i would like to put a four speed or maybe even a 5 speed manual. my question is what is the best trans and if i do swap out the trans does that mean the transfer case will no longer fit? also does anyone know off hand or know where icould find a list of what transmissions were offered in 84 for the diesel and big blocks?

the transfer case will fit on another engine. i have a 86 f250 that had a 6.9 in it with a manual tranny and 1345 bg t case. i got a 400 in it with a c6 with a 1345 t case bolted up. if you go to a auto tranny you will have to replace the adapter on the t case with a 6" adapter due to the tell shaft of a auto tranny. if you find a manual i believe the adapter on the t case now will work. NOTE if you go with a c6 you will want to find a 4x4 c6 tranny. you can use a 2wd but you would have to swap out the shaft. another thing the adapters for the c6 can be used from a big block or small block c6
