Steering Damper Shock Absorber!

Is there a single stock (OEM) steering shock absorber for the 4x2 F-150 trucks. I see it for the 4x4 in my shop manual, but not for a 4x2. I do see in some part catalogs like NPD that list ( single, mounts to stock mounts) on page 92 for the F-150 70-79 but they don't say for 4x2 or 4x4. Could use some explaining here, thanks, Tom

I added a Rancho to my 2wd 75 F150. :)
Bought all that crap hardware to go with it.
Returned all that crap hardware to the store. :)

Just drill a 9/16" hole and counter-sink the edges good.
(reduces crack propogation)

Mine's been welded for no real good reason. :/
The hose clamps were holding it fine, no kidding.

Welding medium carbon steel can result in failure if it ain't done right in at least three ways. Pre-heat, post-heat and welding method... not welding across the bar, only along the top and along the bottom.

I'm only here to show others what I've done.
I want to see what you come of with that's a better idea! :)
There's no way I could have come up with -the best- idea on one try.

Alvin, I did the same thing you did with the Rancho setup, brought and returned. The end that connected to the steering rod landed right on top of the connecting rod end. Was afraid to try another aftermarket, looking into oem brackets as to my original post.

The Rancho stabilizer fits fine when the end of it is sticking through the radius arm. That one I know. ;) Your radius arm is the sheet-metal type like mine.

Not sure the forged type radius arm would work with my method. :/

The tie-rod bracket ain't hard to make if you've got a welder (any type), a drill, a 9/16" drill bit and a grinder. Better than owning that stuff is a friend that owns that stuff? :) The base is half of a 1" black iron water pipe. Don't slice it open until all the welding is done tho.

I would not never weld on an old rusty tie-rod like most of you guys have! :/

Not sure about the mechanism but hydrogen cracks or something really bad has shown up in my re-heat treated, rusty, old, factory, carbon steel knife blades.
