Old Gas Stations

As a related but different topic, check out these old gas stations from this site: http://tinyurl.com/2nwjj9

Lots of memories here.

Those pics are very cool,I saved all of them.I haven't seen so much as a picture of a Sinclair station for years, thanks.

My great-grandfather was chauffeur for the Sinclair family,my Grandmother told me stories when I was a tyke. They sent him to school to learn to maintain automobiles, she was born in 1908 so I imagine this was sometime around 1915-1920.They lived with the Sinclairs,no doubt in a servants quarters or house and she went to school with the Sinclair children.I believe she said Boston. She passed in '98 and took a lot of family history with her, wish I'd grabbed a tape recorder when we had our talks.Life got in the way and now I regret it.

Thanks for the pics, a few of them look like some older stations I remember in small towns where I grew up.

I copied them. I am going to get some of them frames and put up in my garage. Its not the garagemahal like Ax's, but I do want to make it better this summer. So the pics will help. Thanks for sharing ... Kevin

Man I too enjoyed looking at those old stations. The 2nd last picture there use to be one behind the drive ine near where I grew up as a teen. The drive in and station long gone. City has developed homes there now.
We have a gas station that was a Texaco station and repair shop up into the 80's . They now changed it into a mini sub police station called the Little Chief. The city needs to save and move it to where it can be seen like it was in its hayday. It should be at the mueseum here in Saskatoon, Sk.

That second picture, the shell station, looks like the one at the Gilmore museum is Hickory Corners, Mich. Great car museum! Those gas stations look like what I grew up with, before they all became 7-11's.

Gman thanks for some very fond memories of my childhood, remember the old soda pop machines you know the ones that a kid without a nickel or dime could just pop the cap insert a straw and hope the guy in the repair bay didnt notice. But in those days as i remember it most old mechanics cared more about the thirsty kid than they did the nickel. Maybe thats why We all have fond memories of that time period people cared about each other.

Does anyone know where any stations are in North Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee, or Alabama that would allow a guy to bring his truck and take photos using the station as the background? Thanks
